Est 2015
Our Story
Women Health Empowerment and Emancipation Initiative (WHEEI) is a non-profit and non-government Organization. WHEEI was formed to address issues faced by women, adolescent girls and youth in accessing basic information and services at the community level, which affects their ability to comprehensive health care services in Kano State. It was established in 2015, with presence in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States.
Community Engagement
Our Community Engagement platform aims to engage with key stakeholders in Nigeria on the impact of stigma and discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender and gender identity on individuals in our community settings.
Capacity Building
Support and train vulnerable women and girls/female sex workers in Nigeria to develop skills to challenge gender based violence.
Media Legal Support
Provide training, mentorship and support to journalists and lawyers in Nigeria to strengthen their knowledge on vulnerable women subjects and issues in relations to media storytelling and legal representation and support.
Advocacy
Advocacy visits to public and private health facilities, health care providers and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen partnership for an enabling policy environment in the provision of non-discriminatory services and to ensure increased access to comprehensive treatment free from stigma and discrimination.
Documentation and Monitoring
Documentation and monitoring of human rights violations that are reported to us by individuals and partners in Kano State on the ISDAO project.
